The title of the piece refers to that case of the two-voice texture in which the two layers of the musical action are outlined not simultaneously but successively, in different sections of a tune. Instead of realisation of the two parts above each other quasi in the space, the two-voice texture is realised one after the other, so in time. For the performer it gives the task to create the feeling of two-voice texture by means of dynamics and artiuculation.
