Ivan Madarasz (1949- )
The title of the composition suggests there is a story – that can be told in words – lying behind the music. This piece however rests on a happening that has not happened, we could say a fictitious story, one whose subject is undetermined and whose events are given actual content by the imaginations of the performer and the listener. The interest of the composer in this direction is perhaps indicated by the title of another piece by him “A story left to the imagination”. The work was written to commission as the set piece for a Hungarian national oboe competition.
