Pal Rozsa: Introduzione e tema con variazioni
Pál Rózsa (1946– ) wrote his Introduzione e tema con variazioni for solo alto flute or flute in summer 2014 for the encouragement and dedicated to Gergely Matuz who perfomed it the same year on flute. The total duration of the piece is 10 minutes, consisted of one to one and a half minutes segments. After the slow, rubato introduction there is the theme that is built on a part of the famous aria ”Lascia ch’io pianga” from the opera ”Rinaldo” by G. F. Handel. It is followed by six variations which offer the flautist to show the versatility of the timbres of the flute as well as his/her own virtuosity.
