István Láng (1933– )
The title of this work, written in 2000 and lasting 11 minutes, refers to its unusual form and its inner coherence. The first section (Mesto) is followed by dramatic pizzicato motion (Energico). The tension of this is resolved by playful ideas (Giocoso). Afterwards first the Energico then the Giocoso return in a varied manner of performance. Next we hear an unexpected new long agitated virtuoso section (Con fuoco). Then the composition is brought to a close with the opening lyrical mood (Mesto), mixed a little with the restless fragmentary passages that preceded. The première took place in Tokyo in 2001, performed by Morigushi Kyko.
