The comments of the composer to the works: ”The composition was written after the news of death of Zoltán Gyöngyössy. The katabasis is the way of the ascending then descending soul. The chromatic, passacaglia-like downward moving melody-starting tones from the one-line E to the small B are the symbols of descent. The flute enlarged by B-foot plays tunes symbolizing the ascension from the inferno using the tonal system of the acoustic series of certain tones of the fourth space.” The piece is performed by a flute and a synthesizer.
