Laszlo Dubrovay (1943– )
The composer said of these two-movement works requiring virtuoso performers: ”The first movement is based on the contrast between sorrowful, weeping, microchromatic phrases or motives and heavenly glissando harmonics. The form of the second is a rondo whose theme makes use of the notes of natural glissando harmonics. In the episodes the first movement's microchromatic, graphically moving thematic material appears, with a transformed intonation. In this way the sound world of the two movements becomes integrated, at the same time the two kinds of music becoming separate through their differing weightiness.” One playing score of each version.
