ABOUT OUR STORE

Akkord Music Publishers Ltd. was established in 1989 as the first private company of this kind after the forty years long monopolistic position of the state-owned music publisher. At the beginning Akkord focused on rarities of music history as well as original works and transcriptions which could be used in music education either. Contemporary repertory has been increased year by year, nowadays this is the main profile of the company. First of all instrumental pieces are the subject of publication but there are chamber vocal as well as choral works in the catalogue, too. Hire materials mean also a growing part of the stuff, mainly concerning concertos by Bottesini as well as contemporary orchestral works. For a while also books were published in Hungarian, English and German belonging to musicological and educational topics. Besides own sheet music Akkord distribute products of other labels, e.g. Brassimum, Bernardus, Cellissimo and the US based Harpa Hungarica. Akkord is the worldwide distributor of editions of the Institute for Musicology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Besides the leading music shops of Hungary the Akkord catalogue is available in lots of foreign countries and one can buy directly through this internet store from all over the world.
